I’m stepping out of the shadows of my soon to be full-time blog sabbatical (post Election Day) to give a H/T to Jerry at From on High.
Jerry demonstrates the total cluelessness of The Roanoke Times (get yer own link) editorial staff on the whole Roscoegate issue. Jerry quotes the times as saying:
If a candidate or a blog alliance isn’t wise enough to register its own name and some obvious iterations, it deserves all the resulting satire.
Excuse me? You boys need to go back to journalism school and learn the definitions of satire and libel, ’cause obviously you skipped that day.
I might note, however, that as of this writing, the domain names www.roanokecrimes.com and www.roanokeslimes.com are available.
For a while at least.
But hey, what’s a little satire amongst friends?
November 1-30 is National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo for short. I have participated in this project every year since 2003. In 2005, I was actually successful.
And I want to be again this year. I’ve got a great premise for a story and I’ve been doing research for weeks.
So, as I said the other day, I’m going on sabbatical from the blog. I can’t keep up with both. I won’t be completely/officially gone until after Election Day. But my blogging will be limited.
Look announcements about our return/our future sometime after December 1.
When October Goes
And when October goes
The snow begins to fly
Above the smokey roofs
I watch the planes go by
The children running home
Beneath a twilight sky
Oh, for the fun of them
When I was one of them
And when October goes
The same old dream appears
And you are in my arms
To share the happy years
I turn my head away
To hide the helpless tears
Oh how I hate to see October go
I should be over it now I know
It doesn’t matter much
How old I grow
I hate to see October go
