Aide not charged for Webb’s irresponsible gun ownership

Gun charges dropped against Senate aide

WASHINGTON - Authorities dropped charges Friday against an aide to Virginia Sen. Jim Webb who carried a loaded gun into the U.S. Capitol complex.

I guess some aides are more equal than others.

Teri Hatcher looked Bad Bad-Really, Really Bad

TMZ.com asks

Teri Hatcher: The New King of Pop?

The “Desperate” pretty young thing has quietly morphed her wavy black locks and porcelain white skin to mimic the King of Pop’s fabulous feminine features. Makes you want to scream, doesn’t it?!

Well, okay, but Teri never looked like this as a child:

Friday Whine and Cheese: You don’t have to be liberal to be crazy, but it helps.

Friday Whine and Cheese: You don’t have to be liberal to be crazy, but it helps.

In the aftermath of the Virgnia Tech shootings, Riley cause a firestorm of his own in the Virginia political blogosphere when he dared to pose the following question:  A Creature of the Left?   Predictably the lefties got their bloomers in a twist.  We talked about it here:  I think Ben needs a nap.   As we continue to learn more about the shooter and the messages he left behind, we understand that, regardless of political leanings, he was a very disturbed and angry young man.

But speaking of disturbed and angry men who want to be young, there’s no questioning the politics of Alec Baldwin. A mediocre actor, Baldwin made the headlines last weekend after a recording of his tirade against his 11-year-old daughter was leaked to the media.  Baldwin apologized, and then in typical liberal fashion, blamed someone for releasing the tape.  You know, Baldwin was the one who went on national TV and called for the assassination of a prominent Republican Congressman.  As we said before Baldwin’s best role was falling off a roof on Knot’s Landing.

In a move applauded by Al-Jazeera, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared the war in Iraq “lost.”  He and Screecher of the House Nancy Pelosi have been calling for unconditional surrender in Iraq for some time now.  After all as he said on April 12
We’re going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war. Senator Schumer has shown me numbers that are compelling and astounding.  That’s what it’s all about isn’t it Harry?  Picking up Senate seats.  Forget the terrorists, forget our national security, forget our troops.  As long as you can remain Senate Majority Leader, then nothing else matters.

Of course Rosie O’Donnell continues to be news with her fight with Donald Trump, her rants about 9/11, her insults of Chinese Americans and now her walking papers from “The View.”  Leslie Carbone tells us “Rambling Rosie Leaves the View.”   Rosie says she wasn’t fired. And of course (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) we believe her.  Whatever the real reason for her departure, she does attract attention and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last from her.  It’s a shame though.  She used to be funny, and she’s not a bad actress.  But now she’s just disturbed and angry.

NBC News President Steve Capus just went completely off the deep end when he claimed that the NBC showing of the Virginia Tech shooter’s videos and writings was “good journalism.”   Well, like sure if you’re the National Enquirer and not a major television network.  While we know the leftist leanings of the national media, even SLANTblog has called for the boycott of NBC.  If we ever watched NBC, we’d join in.

God bless her for persevering on through her cancer and treatments, but Elizabeth Edwards went off the deep end when talking with Chrissy Matthews.  Together they came to the conclusion that the President went to Virginia Tech so quickly because the tragedy involved rich white kids, and that he delayed visiting the Gulf Region after Katrina because those hardest hit were lower income minorities.  Mattews and Edwards showed not only their racism, but their ignorance with those statements.

After Rudy Giuliani declared that “America will be safer with a Republican President” DNC Chair Howard Dean said on CNN that Giuliani has a lot of character issues that he has to answer for. And overwhelmingly, Americans are going to vote on honesty and integrity….(according to Drudge).  Two seconds later Dean says “No, I’m not going to get into that stuff. I don’t like attacking people on their personal lives” and presumes to tell the Republicans how their primary will play out.  That Howie, he’s such a scream!

The High Priestess in the Church of Global Warming said earlier this week that by limiting toilet paper usage to one square per visit, we can save the planet.  We think Dogwood Pundit put it best with If Sheryl Crow Tells You To Kiss Her A**, Politely Decline.   Of course Crow said it was all a joke, but we don’t think her explanation quite passes the um…smell test.  We filed this one under “eeeewwwww!”

Over at United Conservatives of Virginia Flora tells us about the Impeachment rallies happening this weekend. She tells us that in Carytown tomorrow:  Earthlings will lay side by side in a large mural that will be read by the universe, helicopters and airplanes. Large enough to be read from space, the mural will no doubt cause the Vulcans to avoid visiting our planet until at least 2063.  If then.

The Right-Wing Liberal gives us Jim Webb’s Foot-in-Mouth disease:  Exhibit Fourteen.  RWL tells us that Senator Hothead actually said “There will be very little motivation for al-Qaida to continue in Iraq once we have left.”  Oh, please, that’s like telling a room full of hungry toddlers to “play nice.”  RWL points us to Riley who tells us Webb Votes to Cut and Run.  Let’s face it folks, “macaca” was not worth what we ended up with.

Last, but certainly not least, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday she sees her sometimes Southern accent as a virtue. (Breitbart.com)  Now, just exactly how did she get a “Southern accent” growing up in Illinois?  Sure, she lived in Arkansas, but she’s no more Southern than her husband is faithful.
I’ll admit I’ve been charmed by the speech of many a southern belle.   But face it, Hillary isn’t charming, Southern or a “belle.”

As Mammy said to Miss Scarlet, “It ain’t fittin’.  It just ain’t fittin.’”

No, no, no it’s a golf “tee”…

Mom Teed Off by Urinating Drunk Golfers

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - A mother teed off by drunken golfers urinating near her house by the 18th hole resorted to videotaping the men after no action was taken on her complaints. Video of some men relieving themselves behind trees at the city-owned course was played on local and national television news.

Arrival at Cape Henry

The day dawned cold and dreary, and we got a late start. Still we made it to First Landing State Park and our seats before the event started. Walking down the beach to the event area, we regretted not dressing for cooler weather. But it was almost 90 degrees at the beach yesterday.

.

.

Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera E. Oberndorf and other dignitaries, including Joseph Maroon, Director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation welcomed us to the event..

.

.

.

We saw the ships on the horizon. The replicas of the Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery are normally docked at Jamestown. This event marked the first time the three replicas have sailed together..

.

.

As the landing party began their approach to the shore, Captain John Smith recounted their journey. He did this from the podium as his fellow reenactors emerged from behind the bleachers.

.

.

.

Ironically, the landing party never made it to shore today. We finally presumed that the reenactors on the beach were not of the same company as the reenactors on the ships.

.

.

.

One of the small ships approaching was a replica of the shallop in which John Smith surveyed and mapped the Chesapeake Bay.

.

.

.

The Englishmen open the sealed box they have brought from England. It contains the names of the members of the Council of Virginia and instructs the Council to chose a President to serve for a year. The men named to the Council are Captain Christopher Newport, Capain Bartholomew Goswold, Edward Maria wingfield, John Marin, Captain John Ratcliffe, George Kendall and John Smith.
~ From the official program. Taken from the Journal of Geroge Percy and other sources. .

.

The Reverand Robert Hunt offered a prayer of thanksiving for the landing and on April 29, 1607 conducted the first Anglican service in the New World. The Englishment erected a cross at Cape Henry. while we didn’t witness this, rumor has it that a noted Virginia politican made the mistake of calling Reverend Hunt “Padre” and was suitably reprimanded by the “Vicar” himself.

Events continue throughout the next few weeks. Learn more at Jamestown2007.

This day in history, April 26, 1607

Harken back to 1607 when the Virginia Company’s colonial settlers set foot in the New World. Watch a re-enactment of the “first landing,” complete with costumed interpreters and replica sailing ships. (Reservations and tickets are required for the re-enactment, which takes place on April 26.) There will be exhibits on John Smith’s expedition, and you can visit a newly constructed replica of a Native American village where you can observe life before colonial settlers arrived in the New World. Programs offer a chance to meet park staff and Nansemond tribe members, who will discuss period Native American culture.

Find out more.

My family and I will be there. I’ll post pictures tonight when we get back.

Duncan to Harry: Step down

WASHINGTON — The ranking Republican in the House Armed Services Committee called on House Majority Leader Harry Reid to resign Wednesday over his declaration that the Iraq war is “lost.”

“Even if you sincerely believe it to be true, your pronouncement of failure will undoubtedly be used by terrorist leaders to rally their followers — inevitably leading to increased attacks on U.S. and coalition forces,”

FoxNews.com

Duncan Hunter isn’t my candidate. But he’s got some backbone.

We could use some of that.
